Just a quick note about the new and improved ASIMO, a humanoid robot from Honda. The new version can now Run/Jog at a speed of 3 kilometers per hour. While this incredible feat is a first it reminds me of how technology may be used poorly at times when you add some military expertise. Just add a gun with remote vision like the XM29 to ASIMO and you have an instant Terminator. Ten years down the road when the military starts declassifying information we will see what parallel research was being done on ASIMO.

The link to the new ASIMO discussed in this article is here.

Google works on so many things these days you need a search engine just to keep track of the Search Engines they develop, here is a quick list of their new search engines:

First, let me introduce the new kid on the block http://scholar.google.com/. When you perform a search on Scholar your results will be limited to academic results, such as Stephen Hawking’s first publication in 1971 of his theory on Black Holes. Think of all the possibilities in an argument here: “When did Hawking first submitted his theory? Well let’s check from the man himself by looking on Scholar.”

Now you can do useful searches too in Google with Google Local such as where can I get a Pizza with decent peperoni and a thick crust at 3 am, well it’s not that good yet, but i am sure they are working on it, see for yourself: Pizza in Montreal, QC

As if that was not enough already, Google has developed a Google for Desktops, although only availlable in Beta this product already blows the competition away. Microsoft in response felt the urge to buy a small company that produced Lookout which is a very good desktop Search Engine too.
