Games

I just wanted to mention, my first game review was published in a Montreal french newspaper named La Presse. It should be published every two weeks in the Arts section, the other week e-Chantal from Divetheweb.com will be writing the review.

September 20th Update: You can now read my game review on cyberpresse.ca (in french).

Curmudgeon Gamer has an interesting chart on the prices of gaming consoles since 1976 all relative to the inflation. I do recall my first gaming console the Atari 2600, which had been bought in Canada for about 280$ (CAD) back in 1979… 280$ was about 124 movie tickets (at 2.25$ each) or 1647 post stamps (at 0.17$ each), now with an estimated canadian price of about 660$ for a PS3 it is about 63 movie tickets (at 10.50$ each) or 1294 post stamps (at 0.51$ each).

Ok so maybe if you think of the PS3 as just a game console you can find the entry ticket a bit pricey. But I recall seeing XBox 360 bundles selling for 1000$-1500$ (US) on eBay when it came out because of limited supplies in the american market. If Sony can deliver the PS3 in sufficient quantities then the early buyers will actually get a more decent price than those that bought XBox 360s…

Also worth mentioning: the PS3 might come out bundled with Linux, yep you heard right. So it’s not just a game console anymore, it’s closer to a Linux Ready Multi Core High Performance Station with Blu-Ray Drive and it runs games too.
